Midland Insurance Brokers is greatly saddened by the death of their Managing Director, Terry Lane, who passed away suddenly on July 22nd.
Since its creation, Terry has worked every day at Midland Insurance Brokers –quietly and consistently achieving excellence, and known for his hands-on approach.
Terry began work in the Insurance business in 1958 at Phoenix, where he quickly rose through the ranks as an Inspector and Agency Supervisor. In 1976, Terry moved to Robinson Insurance Services as an Insurance Broker before co-founding OAMPS in 1977 where, under Terry’s leadership, OAMPS became one of Australia’s largest and most successful Insurance Broker firms. In 1993, Terry became a co-Director owner of Cilmi Wigley Insurance Brokers which he bought out in 2000 and later renamed Midland Insurance Brokers.
Among his many career achievements, Terry was awarded the Lex McKeown Trophy in 2014, recognising his outstanding service in the Industry.
Those of us who worked closely with Terry have lost a friend, confidant and mentor. Terry’s legacy, his vision and the culture which he carefully built within Midlands will be preserved by his sons (and Midland co-directors) Damien and Justin.
The company is in mourning and all employees share with Terry’s family and friends the immense sadness of his death. For the time being, we would like to reflect upon his life and express our gratitude to an exceptional man who gave everything to his company.
